Inaugural Love Letter by DL Roan

DL's Inaugural Love Letter

This week has been especially busy with the Christmas season coming to a close and the new year fast approaching. I have a lot of amazing experiences to look back on from 2013. I published my first erotic novel, Second Chances, in February and quickly discovered that writing such an amazing story was the easy part. Imagine my surprise when my first book didn't make me an overnight best seller and millionaire! *gasp*

In truth, I was well aware the odds were against me. I'm just so glad to finally have an outlet for the voices in my head. I had, and still have, no delusions of grandeur that I would be swimming in champagne and smelling roses when I pooped all because I wrote a book. Yes I said "pooped" in my first ever blog post. I debated just going for it and using "shit", but I'm trying to be polite. Don't get used to it. If  you've read any of my books you know it won't last.

After tons of marketing research (which really never ends) I discovered book blogs and Facebook. Yes, I lived in a cave. Location undisclosed as I may crawl back in there from time to time. I'd heard of blogs but never understood what they did and I had sworn off all social media. Good lord, look at me now! I have a website, a Amazon Author page (<---please go like), a Facebook Fan Page with almost three thousand likes, two Facebook groups, a Twitter account I have no idea how to run, a Pinterest page (I kinda like that one), a Goodreads Author page (don't get me started), a Google+ profile and now a blog! Somebody stop me!

In the midst of all of that I managed to write and publish my second book, Second Nature. I lost a piece of my heart somewhere inside the pages of Grant and Thalia's story. They mean so much to me. I had never imagined I held within myself the ability to bring their story to life in the way they deserved. There is so much love and loss and passion there.

Moving on before I write my own review, ha-ha. I may have lost a piece of my heart, but I also found an editor! Yes, folks. Contrary to popular belief an editor IS a necessity to writing a good book, NOT a luxury. Apparently I have a grammatical disorder with homophones and homographs. No, that is not a new sexual orientation or position (someone actually said that to me in a private message they wrote to tell me about my unrealized grammar greatness!) It's using words that sound the same but are spelled different and have different meanings, such as vial and vile. I still blush of embarrassment at that one. Thank God for editors!!! Since my editor does not review my blog posts I'm sure you might actually find a few blips and typos here, but hey! This is a free read!

I had my first ever blog tour when I released Second Nature. I have to say right here and now that I love +Natalie Jennifer Love Between the Sheets. They were amazing hosts to my tour and promoted me beyond reason. I learned so much and made so many new friends. Which brings me to my street team. YEA! I have a Street Team! The DL Roan Passionistas are my saving grace. The ladies on my team have given me so much joy and made me laugh so hard. I don't doubt for one minute they support my books and love my characters every bit as much as I. They rock the pimp hard, and now I'm everywhere!

Despite Second Chances' rocky start, those three sexy cowboys are still going strong and Second Nature has given my readers more than it's fair share of book hangovers. I'm not rolling in dough, but that was never the plan. One day maybe I'll hit the FSOG  lottery. Maybe not. I love what I do and I'm so happy I have the opportunity to bring these amazing characters to life and share them with my fans. FANS! OMG I have fans! And I couldn't have done any of this without you! I'm well into my third novel and have at least eight more amazing stories waiting in the wings to share with you. Stay tuned for more updates on my upcoming books. Plenty of surprises, juicy details and Alpha-licious heroes to come! *snickers* Pun completely intended.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a sexy New Year! XoXo
